Crematorium. Architecture project

Year 3 University project, part of the course "Architectural Design: Explorations", Unit "Cinematic space", University of Edinburgh.

Starting project with an analysis of the chosen film scene (Copacabana scene from Goodfellas in my case), I developed a principle of unfolding and revealing the spaces along the route.

The crematorium project consists of 6 turning points. Starting at the bottom of the path leading to the St Antony's Chapel in Holyrood park (Edinburgh) one would experience the views shaped by the gate, reception, cremator (staff only), contemplation space, staff building, chapel. The journey terminated behind the ruins of the chapel with a cemetery.
Mapping study of the Copacabana scene in "Goodfellas"
Bringing the mapping strategy into the 3D model to experiment with the views and distortion of the spaces
St. Antony's Chapel by St. Margaret's Loch, Edinburgh
Wooden structure of the folies that wraps around the buildings like the nature wraps around the path
