Marosvásárhely (Tîrgu-Mureș) is an old medieval city in the heart of Transylvania (Romania). The first written memories originated from 1323. The city's Art Nouveau style was shaped under the leadership of Bernády György at the beginning of the 20th century. The city's coat-of-arms was modified several times over the centuries, but the main symbols have been preserved. The crown, the sword, the heart and the bear are parts of the cities history. These historical symbols appear in the new identity of the city in a modern, contemporary style. Through renewing the identity of the city I also respected the matter of the bilingual citizens.

Marosvásárhely egy nagy múltú középkori város, Románia régiójának, Erdély szívében. Az első írásos emlékek 1323-ból származnak. A város mostani, szecessziós arcát a 20. sz. elején, Bernády György polgármester vezetése alatt kapta.

A város címere az évszázadok során többször változott, de a fő motívumok megmaradtak. A korona, a kard, a szív és

a medve szimbólumok végigkisérték a város történelmét. Ezek a történelmi szimbólumok jelennek meg a város új arculatában is, kortárs megfogalmazásban. A város arculatának a megújítása mellett a kétnyelvűség problémája is fontos szempontként szerepelt.

Tîrgu Mureș este un oraș medieval din regiunea României, așezată în inima Ardealului cu o istorie deosebită. Pentru prima dată apare menționată în anul 1323. Orașul a dobândit imaginea de astăzi la începutul secolului XX. datorită primarului György Bernády. Stema orașului s-a schimbat de mai multe ori cu trecerea secolelor, dar elementele principale au rămas aceeași. Motivul coroanei, al sabiei, al inimii și al ursului au însoțit istoria orașului. Aceste motive apar și în noul design al orașului prin redactare contemporană. Pe langă reînnoirea imaginii orașului, am urmărit și problema bilingvismului ca fiind un aspect important.
