What is the site of Lanzarote for us?
No other element than the murmur of the wind was more obvious on the site of Lanzarote, not only as a natural phenomenon but as an element of definition to the site.
In Lanzarote a clear sense of shelter prevails over vine fields as well as the building systems, which are naturally turning their back to the wind.
However the wind was not solely prevailing at the site but also light.
The power of rays of natural light were implemented in the building to create an interplay from light to darkness.
To root the building on the ground we overlaid three different elements: the axes of the vines, the connection of the primitive and the cultivated area and the wind direction. This synthesis intersected and situated the project.
The purity of a sign over the Landscape work as an element of both, exposure and enclosure, on the one hand preventing massive the wind power but on the other controlling its infiltration in the building.
