Orinoquía or Llanos Orientales are tropical plains in the east of the Andes. The region is divided by the Orinoco river which forms a natural border between Colombia and Venezuela. These outstretched plains are inhabited by the Llaneros which are mostly livestock farmers whom have long traditions and a strong culture. As the rest of Colombia the Llanos were caught for decades in a armed conflict. The Peace process now is opening new doors for the region and its people.
