Isolotto Community Center
Architectural Design | iCad | Università Degli Studi Di Firenze | 2016
Location:
Florence, Italy
About:
The idea of creating a community center in the middle of the studied area will redefine the current weak square and create a magnet pulling people starting from Isolotto district itself and also people from the surrounding areas targeting different ages improving the livability of the square and the neighborhood. All of this will allow for day and night activity that especially invites younger generation to stay in this place in addition to the nearby Florence center.
The aim is to create smaller squares with better proportions, one facing the church and one facing the river.
Extra installation to be a division and protection from the cars path, and the ground floor of the community center to be freed. The market place becomes the bridge between the two squares, and an opening in the building to minimize the shade underneath. Connecting further more with the context by orienting two openings at the church to the south and at the park to the north.
