Calendar of Pain

C O N T E X T
In Costa Rica citizens wait as long as 9 years for a medical appointment in public health institutions and some of them have even died while waiting. This is because there are not enough doctors to meet the demands of patients. In addition the hospitals have old facilities.

I D E A
We created THE CALENDAR OF PAIN. A calendar that for the first time made public the medical files of hundreds of patients to show how long they wait for medical attention. The calendar looked exactly like a patient’s medical file. It was presented to Congress at the start of the year, so that they could look at the year ahead and see all of the individuals that are waiting for medical care each day. The movement also sent it to the media.
