'The birthplace' – is a postcard art project. It contains four collages which I did during Christmas holidays made of phone-taken pictures.
From one side, the birthplace – is a story about my hometown district during Christmas and New Year’s holidays, where I have spent most of my lifetime. From the other – this is a story about a neighborhood built up around a maternity hospital located next to my house. A place where people are actually born is surrounded by wall writings of gratitude and love stories, by butcher’s kiosk, by 'cemetery' of Christmas trees from local market and glittering confetti’s left over in the streets mud – all these are important details for me.
Plot of these collages is far from traditional holiday insides of Christmas postcards. This is a realistic sight on environment with a weird romantic of post-Soviet Union aesthetics.
