About Formula SAE
Formula SAE is an annual collegiate design competition organized by SAE International. The competition focuses on hands on team experience to educate students in the following areas: research, design, testing, manufacturing, development, finance, marketing, and project management.
Grizzlies Racing Placement
The Oakland University Formula SAE Grizzlies Racing Team achieved the following placements in the 2012 season with the white and gold GRX2:
2nd in the state,
13th in the country,
and 51st in the world.
We also won the Sexiest Car Award and won third place overall at the inaugural Formula North Competition.

About The Project
While volunteering on the Chassis and Body Team with Grizzlies Racing, I worked with a dedicated team of Oakland University students in various majors. Most of my work with the race team was focused on enhancing the look and feel of the racecars while maintaining the brand identity of the team’s previous cars.
Solutions for the 2011 Race Season | FCXI
During the 2011 race season, I proposed and assisted with designing a more ergonomic race seat to achieve three second egress, and manufactured the new seat and body panels with composite materials using a wet layup and vacuum forming process. I designed the racecar livery, and placed vinyl graphics of our sponsors’ logos.

Solutions for the 2012 Race Season | GRX2
During the 2012 race season, I manufactured the body and seat with composite materials using a wet layup and vacuum forming process. I designed the racecar livery and managed vector files of our sponsors’ logos. I also took on a new challenge this race season—team apparel—by designing the team’s t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts, and I determined logo placement on the team’s polo shirts.
