Publication Design - Tangan Press
Tangan Press is a publication aims to discover the Chinese craftspeople in Johor Bahru. This publication is titled as "Tangan" Press is because in Malay, "Tangan" means "hand. Craftspeople use their hands to work and create beautiful art pieces, and there are signs of aging on their hands. Tangan Press intends to emphasize the importance of craftspeople's hands. The use of "Press" in the title is because this publication is designed in newspaper form.
In order to enhance the value of this publication, Tangan Press interviewed 5 groups of craftspeople to understand more of their craftsmanship, stories, feelings, crafts making processes and passions toward the crafts. For color scheme, Tangan Press used monochrome color highlighted with colors that represent the crafts. It helps emphasize the emotion and lends a timeless feeling to the crafts and craftspeople.
