RAINCOAT
Raincoat & Lolita
by Mariona den Tuinder & Arnau Anglada Raguer
This project is based on the experimentation of thermochromic pigment, silicones, and fashion. The objective was to produce a coat that changed from translucid to opaque black with the low temperature of rain or snow.
The concept aims to be poetic and sensitive… How through a piece of clothing we manage to interact with our surroundings intentionally and without reason. Through a random aesthetic result, that narrates by means of a pictorial strategy; the contact with a meteorological phenomenon how our body is encapsulated in a volume in the image of a canvas that has the objective of creating an experience of veneration towards rain and snow; coldness and darkness.
We believe that this garment can engage its wearer with a cold melancholic phenomenon as is rain or snow. In cities where this “bad” weather is the norm, it can transfigure this perspective into a positive -almost daily- interaction.
