Idea Of Home
Home is a place ,we all feel connected to , it consists of people, objects,relationships, activities that shape us into we are. “Home “may not necessarily be a physical space , it can imaginary or even in our memory or a perfect utopian concept where every thing is perfect. It is a place where we would like to return to or run away from . It can be something that emerges from our perceptions , dreams and aspirations. While home will be different concept of space and every living being , the very sound of the word “home” conjures an image of a space in which we are comfortable and secure for one and all. We need to understand the meaning of home ,explore ,imagine and create “Home”for other species on earth from a home a non human centric perspective .
I have created an illustration story book, for the purpose of throwing light on the issue of killing sperm Whale in and their need for a safe and happy home . I decided to look into creating awareness and to sensitise people for the Sperm Whale , an endangered species to help in whatever little way in there fight for survival .To bring to peoples aware ness that like us this species and every other being too need and want a space /territory to call home , where they can feel safe not just survive but thrive because they are an important part of our ecosystem , and any missing link in the chain can and will create an imbalance this ecosystem .
Normally in all of us there exists a compassionate streak but some times in our own scheme of things and quest for life , it gets regressed . We may talk of kindness and how bad it is kill animals but we still go ahead and buy products made from these animals , medicine , bags , good luck charms and so forth . It is in the back of our head but we need to become proactive towards taking steps , however tiny to make a difference . My aim is to do just that ! To bring forth to the people a glimpse of the issue and help create a wave of compassion for all beings but specially with regard to the Sperm Whale and its need to have a safe secure and happy home , I want to do this in a very light manner without taking people on a guilt trip but to tell them that each one of us can make a difference .
