Interactivity can take many forms and exists in many different mediums and platforms. From interactive billboards, packaging, in-store experiences to augmented reality, social media campaigns and interactive websites, apps, etc. For this project I had to create, design and prototype an interactive solution or experience that will assist a brand of my choice and allows the user to interact with the brand as well. I also had to create user personas that is relevant to my chosen brand and come up with a scenario that can be solved with an interactive solution. The brand I chose was the Honeypot Coffeehouse. It is located in Letterkenny and it is an independent coffee shop and restaurant that specialises in breakfast, lunch and coffee.
From creating my user personas, all of the users like to drink coffee and to socialise. They would encounter the brand mostly on social media with the likes of competitions and special promotions encouraging their audience to visit the café. The challenge the Honeypot Coffeehouse faces is competition from other companies. I discovered that there are many cafés and restaurants in Letterkenny so this would make it difficult for it’s customers to choose where to go to eat as there was such a wide variety of choice. I had a few ideas to solve this problem.

After brainstorming a few ideas for my interactive solution, I decided to create a digital loyalty card in the form of an application. My main objective was to design a digital loyalty card in the form of an interactive application that will assist the brand and help the Honeypot Coffeehouse to further promote their brand digitally and to allow users to further interact with the brand.
I then started sketching my prototype. When you first open up the app the homepage will appear giving you the option to log in if you already have an account or sign up. Then it brings you to the main page showing you all the features of the app including a menu, digital loyalty card, discounts, poll and a contact us page.
This is my final concept. When you first open the app you will have the option to log in or sign up. I wanted the user experience to be simple and easy to use for everyone but includes relevant features that a normal coffee app would have. Once you log in, the app will take you to the main page. There you will have the option to select what feature you want to use like Menu, Loyalty Card, Discounts, Poll or a Contact Us page. Again, I wanted the layout to be easily accessible to everyone.

I noticed from my research that other coffee apps hadn’t any features were users could personally interact within the app so I thought of designing a poll feature that people could vote on a weekly poll. Just like the loyalty card and discounts page, the poll is also a good way to attract users back to the app every week and helps the Honeypot to update this feature on a weekly basis.

From undertaking this project, I believe that I have produced an appropriate interactive design solution that assists my chosen brand and helps further promote the brand digitally. Furthermore, I think that the application will encourage users to interact within the app with features such as the digital loyalty card and the interactive poll feature. The challenges I had to face during this project was coming up with the final solution and also designing my concept. It was very time-consuming creating the app in Adobe Illustrator but I am happy with the style and layout of the app. I had many ideas but I think that the application was a good idea to promote the Honeypot Coffeehouse. I have learnt a lot undertaking this assignment in relation to brand experience but overall I am very pleased with my final concept/solution.
