The purpose of this design project was to design a catalogue for cooking spices that would then later become part of a series. This is a book or guide that shoppers can pick up in store and can serve as a tool of cooking education. It was important to consider the information system needed and apply the necessary logical clarity to inform as well as enthuse and delight the reader.

Roles and hierarchy of information, typographic clarity and coherent layout are key elements of this brief.
The format of the catalogue could be very liberally interpreted but had to remain functional.

The target audience of the brief are mainly women aged 25 - 50. They would see and interact with the artefact in store while shopping. These women would most likely be home cooks, making meals for their families.
The secondary audience would be young adults aged 16 - 25, learning to cook and needing a guide for help.

A simple fold guide was developed. This may be used a both a book or poster. It has been designed to be part of a range, herbs and seeds would be other examples of guides in the range. The folding out of the booklet also allows for the break down of information which strengthens the cataloguing system.
The catalogue whilst quite visually dominant, provides a lot of helpful information. regarding the spice pictured. These include: how much to use, the cuisines it is most used in, the forms it comes in, what it tastes like, and what dishes to use it with.
