Critically acclaimed fine-art photographer Julia Fullerton-Batten is working on a fascinating series, exploring emotional episodes of life and death on the Thames. She re-stages historic events at their riverside location, with street-cast models and her signature cinematic lighting.

The girl in the first image represents one of the thousands of bystanders who witnessed a bottlenose whale that swam up the river in 2006, was evacuated on a barge but died before reaching the sea.
