TRANQUILAND
DESIGNING A PLAY SPACE FOR ADULTS
Project Brief: Tranquiland is a Play Space designed for Adults of the age group of 20 to 35 years by keeping in mind of the requirements of this group and also keeping the experience playful and memorable.
According to our research derived on basis of interviewing young people of the age group we derived lot of major features for designing our play Space. The users really needed a space which gives them peace and makes them feel cosy, where they can relax and run away from the chaos of the world we live in. The space needs to give them positive memories of childhood, where the sound of their mother's anklet was the most beautiful music, the breezy evenings spent in the terrace of their homes, the texture of walking in sand by the beach, hide and seek played with friends and so on.
So, Tranquiland came to existence , a play space which has the following features:
FEATURE 1
The space is created with satin ribbons where users are surrounded by them and they feel warm and cosy and remember the hide and seek game which they played as kids. These ribbons have tiny bells attached which makes the calming sound of the anklets.
FEATURE 2
Tranquiland also has mirrors which play with light and create beautiful reflections which remind us of the childhood where we all played with the glass of our wrist watch and sunlight and enjoyed watching the reflections it created.
FEATURE 3
Tranquiland has created beautiful experiences inside this space where the users can experience various textures and play with these additional soothing elements which are added to relieve them from their stress of routine life.
FEATURE 4
There is a play experience which is recreated in Tranquiland from the moment the users step into the space barefoot. We have created the experience of the sand at the beach using artificial elements other than sand.
