Some of the design elements used in these sequence of photos are contrast, and emphasis. The story the image tells is the end, a final piece.
This is image is very similar to the first it just has an artistic angle to show different lines within the photo itself. The main focus of this photo was to show how the legs out the desk are made just to give it a little more detail.
This image shows image shows a lot of lines which I think help with the balance of the photo, the miter saw is clearly the focus because it was such a detrimental tool to building this desk. This image proves that work has been done here.
This particular image is piecing it together. Using the rule of thirds I thought it would be best if I was to left of center in this image with most of the objects in the center. This image is telling you the story of how I got to the final picture.
This is one of my favorites from this session. I believe when trying to achieve a certain image, certain things have to be in place. The light, the spacing, and my mind has to be in order.Much like when I do a project. Everything has to be in order. That way I know I cover all my bases. This image shows you how I organized all of the different sizes of wood I needed to build this desk. In my world, organization equals success.
The lines in this photo really stand out to me not just because the boards are all running vertically, but because of the contrast in color between the ones that are stained and the ones that are not. Although it is in black and white, you can tell how much the stain made a difference in this photo.
This image I feel like has the most balance, and was taken almost by complete accident. Almost. It also has a bit of contrast. Everything in this photo has a straight line, except for the tape measure. The tape measure is the only object in this image with any curve to it which, I think just made this photo. This image is showing the beginning stages of the build. Measure twice, cut once.
I did this shot right here so you could really see where the light was coming from. I like the contrast between the two. With most of the left of the image in the light everything to the right is in shadow, splitting the image into thirds almost.
The emphasis is clearly on me the focus of this photo is the process I am entering. Sanding. Much like photography sometimes you have to smooth things out in order for them to look right.
Originally when I was  doing this show I was going more the texture of the wood but ended up liking how light was hitting the wood. It really gave it some very clear lines and little bit of contrast with my arm in there. Just some more of the de-nibbing process.
Beautiful lines and contrast between light and dark, also using the rule thirds again buy having it slightly off center and only going 3/4 of the way up in the image. The main focus being the boards on the table changing color.
This shot I thought was interesting because the lines from the boards are crisp and clean but the unique contrast comes from the jumble of stickers on the side of the desk I was using as a table. Just goes to show you that not all contrast are about shape, size, and color.
