textbook for economics students

Design of the layout for an second edition of economics textbook for students, basing on the analysis of its first version. It has been created in response to observations made by the lecturers of the Krakow University of Economics, which suggest that students do not want to use academic textbooks in terms of learning. According to my design basis, the textbook should promote learning by introducing more infographics and ordering the structure.
Uncoated paper and large margins intend to encourage the user to draw and write in the textbook. Stitching the back with a thread allows to place the book on a flat surface – important when learning at the a desk. Icon system, placed on the margins, help to find the important issues in the text. The whole project has been designed not to detract the user’s attention from the scientific and difficult content, with frequently appearing infographics, but rather help in understanding it by minimizing the number of visual aids.
Each chapter ends with a summary, distinguished by the black color of the pages. The summary consists a context map, which visualizes the links between notions and short abstract.
