K4 collection. The work is a minimalistic set of tableware made of porcelain. The collection includes a round plate, an ellipse dish for snacks, and four kinds of finger food.
Technical part:
Surfaces of the items consist of the refracted planes. By that, the desired play of light and shadows has been achieved. These are the parts of the minimalistic design with pure geometric shapes. In my work, I used the technique of slip-casting porcelain. In slipcasting, a liquid clay body slip is poured into plaster molds and allowed to form a layer, the cast, on the inside walls of the mold. As a result, the produced items have a uniform thickness. The plate is designed in such way that the cross section forms zigzag. That is zigzag vertice on one side of the object, at the same time is a notch on the other side. And vice versa. Thanks to this form, the products became functional on both sides. One plaster form allows producing plates of two different designs: convex, concave.
