Time as a Trip
Book cover design for the novel MOMO written by Michael Ende.
This was a school task at Art School of Buda (Budai Rajziskola, Budapest).
MOMO is written for children but the story is obviously for adults too.
The novel of Michael Ende questions the meaning and importance of thinking about time, what people do with their time in modern societies.
The men in gray come and try to steal time but a young, brave girl defeats the time-thieves and brings back what was stolen to the people.
My concept for the book cover was to show the heroine's adventures on a timeline and follow her steps throuh the fight against the men in gray. Sometimes she's got company, sometimes she's alone on her path. The colors are also about expressing her actions and current moods during her adventures.
I wanted to create a playful but not childisch design for the book design.
