PACIFIC COAST XPRESS

Project Brief_
Create an identity system for California High-Speed Rail.

Throughout this 14 week project, I was advised by Simon Johnston and my peers to conduct thorough research and develop understanding of California's culture, and the importance of America's first ever high-speed rail system.

The goal in creating this identity was to create a system that reflects the wide range of cultures that California celebrates along its coast, while embracing the accessibility and connectivity that this train will bring to Californians and their visitors.

[One of the challenges was creating a more efficient name for the rail system (or something along those lines)] Pacific Coast Xpress is a name that pays homage to the iconic coastal highway that Californians and all of its visitors experience to get from Norcal to Socal. Changing the spelling of Express to Xpress visually portrays speed and precision. Pacific Coast Xpress can be abbreviated to PCX.

Gradients play a big part in this system as a secondary elements that represent speed, progress, and pay homage to the iconic sunsets of the Pacific Coast.
