The Old Man and the Sea ~ Typography and Layout

The
Old Man
and the Sea ~
Typography and Layout

This project is a design re-interpretation through the visual research, typography and layout of the book "Old Man and the Sea" - Ernest Hemingway

- This book tells us the story of Santiago, an old fisherman very experienced who is in a tide of chance having spent a few months unable to fish a single fish. The friendship that he creates with Marlim, a young man who encourages him to fish carrying the character from Santiago to the day when he struggles against the sun and sharks to bring the largest fish caught in his area. -

The concept was to convey the object - book, with a more rustic appearance by the choice of paper, referring to the “Old Man”. I focused on the adversities of the character and tried to illustrate through colours and graphic composition, wanting to convey this to the reader even before he started reading.
