Retalls d'ombra
A Cel Obert Festival is an international competition and exhibition about ephemeral art in Tortosa.
Each year five patios from heritage buildings in city are transformed by the five winner proposals and can be visited during the first weekend in October. This festival allows visitors to enjoy beautiful architecture and patios that used to be closed or have private use, while they discuss about art and how small changes can make a big difference in spaces.
During 2015's festival our proposal, Retalls d'ombra (shadow clipping), was placed in Palace Montagut's patio. The intervention wanted to remember the Ebre River's delta landscapes by using the colours, light and shadow of a structure build as a celling. The structure is made of rope and translucent fabric.
By partially closing the patio we manage to give it a human scale. We put some chairs to make visitors more comfortable and invite them to stay in the patio.
The intervention allows visitors to enjoy Palace Montagut's patio with views over the Ebre River.
