This project is a reflection about the city of Oporto and the people who make it relevant. From its earliest origins Oporto has grown and become a reference city with international exposure. But a city doesn’t live by itself, the people who live here make it alive and make it memorable...
Looking for a market gap in this particular field, we developed an investigation about biography/portrait, historical context and artistic/scientific relevance. Noting who are the leading figures of the city, we propose a set of biographical portraits/graphic memories that emphasize and honor a series of 20 personalities.
A portrait suspends the time and resurrects the dead model, but more than establishing a person through the eternity, as stated often, the picture carries the extraordinary power to build eternity as singular presence, as José Gil says.
This is the heart of this project. Creating a graphical artifact that through portrait revitalizes and gives prominence to all these people. A project that intents not only to honor but also to inspire the people in the city.
