Wind and waves brought on by coastal weather draw crowds of adventurous athletes to the shores, regardless of the season. Rhode Island is no different, and throughout the year people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities take to the water for the love of their respective sport. Whether it is surfers coming from far and wide to experience the winter swells, the kite surfers who wait anxiously for days too windy for any other watercraft, or windsurfers sailing through and riding coastal swell, water sports are not only exciting to participate in but can also be wonderful spectacles for those of us watching from the relative warmth of the beach.
