I was assigned the name of a fictional musical artist to make CD packaging for, "Darla Downer." I decided to make it a female solo artist who is goth and does "screamo" Irish folk music, a genre I made up. I took photos of my Irish friend, Lily, and made her do strange, comical poses with stereotypical Irish things like potatoes. I styled and shot photos of the model in three locations, then edited the photos in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom and created the outline and design of the CD packaging in Adobe Illustrator. I solved the design problem creatively and with humor. I measured an existing CD to find the necessary dimensions of my art-boards. All type is my own and all logos and barcodes are vector images I found on the internet. I then printed everything, used an exacto knife to create folds and cut off borders, and put all content into a CD package. All imagery is my own except for the Irish knot background, it is image traced in Adobe Illustrator.
