在台灣，花蓮是大理石的產地，也是大理石的工業重鎮，而這個作品是在台灣花蓮，一次叫做「研石造物」的工作坊中做出的作品，工作坊的目的為讓設計師直接與花蓮大理石各種加工廠接觸，了解大理石加工，並做出作品來讓更多人看到台灣東部的產業能力，改善在台灣設計界不熟悉大理石的現況。

台湾の「花蓮」という地域は大理石の主要な産地で、大理石の工業区でもある。「Scape Cup」は花蓮の「研石造物」というワークショップで作った作品だ。そのワークショップの目的は、デザイナーに花蓮にある様々な大理石工場で、大理石の加工方法について理解してもらい、大理石を用いて作品を作ってもらうことだ。そして、それらの作品で、大理石の美しさと、花蓮の産業をたくさんの人に知ってもらいたい。

"Hualien" is the main manufacturing location of Taiwan. "Scape Cup" was designed at a workshop "Lo Studio della Pietra" which aims to let designers be able to directly communicate with the marble manufacturers, understand marble more, create designs to show people the capability of Hualien's factories and improve current situation that Taiwanese designers are unfamiliar with the marble industry.

既然要在花蓮，用花蓮的大理石做作品，來改善花蓮的產業狀況，那就來做跟花蓮有關的物件吧! 在花蓮最有名的，莫過於「太魯閣峽谷」。所以我就做了「Scape Cup」，是一組將地景融入的杯具。用花蓮盛產的灰大理及滑石，用手工雕塑出杯中像是峽谷岩壁的樣貌，然後茶就像是河川，當你將茶到入杯中後，桌上就會有個小小的風景。

ワークショップに参加した時、花蓮の大理石を用いるため、花蓮に関するデザインしようと思った。花蓮と言えば、「太魯閣峡谷」という風景が有名である。その地形と景色が溶け込んだデザインのカップが「Scape Cup」だ。花蓮生産のグレーの大理石と滑石を用いて、カップの内側を手で彫刻し、峡谷のようなデザインにした。茶を注ぐとそれは河川となり、Scape Cupの中に小さな風景をつくり出す。

In Hualien, it is famous for Taroko Gorge which has splendid cliffs and pure aquamarine water. So the idea of “Scape Cup” is a pair of tea cups which merge the landscape in. Use the "Talc" and "Grey Marble" of Hualien, curve the inside of the cups into the apearance of gorge. And tea is just like river, when you pour tea in the cups, it turn into a small scenery on the table.
