Sylvie Dumoulin "Jaden Smith" (2017) louis vuitton fall-winter 2016

Description: This artwork features a graphite drawing of Jaden Smith. It's an image from a Louis Vuitton photoshoot of the fall-winter 2016 issue of numero homme. Jaden is in the foreground and I had not yet decided on a background. When i finished with the drawing of Jaden I would've added a background that made would make Jaden seem to pop out. The credit line provides information of the artist and the inspiration. I didnt think I should rename the piece since its so close to someone else's image.
Analysis: I used line texture and form throughout the artpiece. It isnt completed however I know I won't like it when it is finished. Principles of design like emphasis and proportion are focuses in my piece.  In the context of art history this piece belongs with the rough drafts since I will probably retsart until i can recreate the image more realistically.
Interpretation: This piece is about a strange individual who some people can recognize as Jaden Smith or the Karate Kid. I selected this image since I like to draw realistic people and I wanted to enter an image of someone known for being weird into the art contest. My choice of medium satisfies me since I work best with graphite and I'm not a big fan of colors.
Judgement: I think people should see this work for the same reason they see any other work. It personally doesnt have any meaning to me but I find it entertaining when people try to make one. People point out different things about the piece that I didnt notice myself. I dont think anything is worth remembering about the picture since I dont like how it turned out. I would rather have people remember a better final draft of it.
The theme of the piece is just monotone, I only intended for it to be close to the original picture so that Jaden Smith is easily recognized. I think it's contest appropiate since Jaden is an individual who people dismiss as strange even though he is quite the activist and wishes to shape the future. The mood is whatever mood anyone looking at the image is in, I dont think there are any elements in the piece to change someone's mood since there isnt much happening in the picture. It's just a picture I came across on instagram and wanted to recreate.
