You Are What You Eat
/ food culture campaign
You are what you eat campaign originated out of a series of 'uncanny' sketches and illustrations. The brief was to design a event and campaign page for a specific academic article of choice, I chose Pietrykovsky's You Are What You Eat. The article addresses our social political and cultural position to food distribution and waste. Our unhealthy relationship with food and food resources is a problem we as Visual Communicators should address and running a awareness campaign opens up a public conversation about food 'norms' and 'cultures'.
This campaign ran for two weeks on the campus of Stellenbosch University and a series of walk throughs and discussions followed. The illustration style communicated to both student and working bodies as well as cultural backgrounds, the 'canny' idea of human alienation, played a role as undertone for a much more serious discussion.
