The first picture here is a hand sketch of how the designed array fixture parts had to be modified from the original design with added joints to fit in the 3D printer bed. I like to sketch my solutions because it helps quick visualization. The second picture is of the 3D printed parts under a vacuum bag after a wet layup of carbon fiber to reinforce the joints.
The following pictures are of one of the two array fixtures (the front "hood") being installed before racing began that day. Part performance under these conditions highlighted some design drawbacks, like uncomfortable ergonomics, and low part performance in the ambient heat of ~+45 degrees C.
