Typography Poster

This is very first typo poster design that i did for my school assignment.

We were asked to select a typeface and design either a booklet, leaflet or poster about the typeface. So, i picked Adobe Caslon Pro.

This was the very first stage where i just randomly place the design just for experimentations purpose. It did not turn out well because there were no concept or idea behind this design that speaks the characteristics of the typeface.

So, i tried to think of a short and simple caption that helped to illustrate the characteristic of the typeface the best.

No more rigid?
With extreme stokes in its letters, Adobe Caslon Pro does not confine itself?

It is possible to connect with Adobe Caslon Pro?
Adobe Caslon Pro has elongated stokes that appear as if its letters are able to connect?

Be exaggerated for breakthrough?
Adobe Caslon Pro has very exaggerated tail that extended out as if striving for breakthrough?

Hmm...i guess not so much..

After a long brainstorming session, i finally thought of a simple caption that illustrate the characteristic of Adobe Caslon Pro

"FORMALLY EXAGGERATED"

I felt that the most prominent features that is reflected in Adobe Caslon Pro is that although Adobe Caslon Pro is a formal typeface (which people usually think that formal typeface is quite flat because it is normally use for document purpose and that is why it cannot be fancy) but it has a very unique features which are exaggerated strokes, serifs and tails

I also tried to experiment the color mode of the poster which i wanted it to be contemporary.

 Final

Finally, it is done. The red, black and cream color is to reflect the formal and corporate-looking of the typeface which is suitable to be used for text in document. The gradient, which its darker side is closer to the edge of the letters is to bring out the emphasis on the exaggerated part of the typeface. The background color is to give the poster a fresh look.
