Overview
Travel is an experience that is mostly associated with positive attributes, adventure and new cultural experiences can broaden the mind and create memories that you will never forget. One of the main disadvantages of travelling is being away from family, friends and loved ones. People who are abroad can feel left out from events that are happening at home and sometimes feel homesick or disconnected.

While there is technology that enables you to stay in contact (Skype, Facebook, Whatsapp, etc), this technology is not always immersive enough and can still make you feel disconnected. Some people don’t even travel in the first place because of the daunting fear of missing out.
Aims & Objectives
Combatting this problem requires a new way to better connect family and friends when they are apart. Our goal is make people feel more included in experiences or events that they are away for, to make them feel a little piece of home while they are away. It targets two groups of people. Firstly, people who already travel and experience the above problems, and secondly, people that are at home and are missing people who are travelling.
When we received this brief our whole team was abroad so it was useful that we were able to draw from our own experiences. We began to focus our research on homesickness as it is one of the most common disadvantages when it comes to travelling for extended periods of time. We studied the existing forms of communication that are available for people abroad. These forms of communication are great but they lack real meaning, and are not a true way to show that you care.
Bosca is a service that tackles homesickness. Bosca means box in Irish. The concept is the idea of sending a little piece of home to someone who is abroad. Through augmented reality the box comes to life with videos, photos, voice messages, text, songs, and even a little taste of home. It’s a way of making a strong connection between people who feel far away from one another. Bosca explores how can we take digital content and repackage it into something physical.
We wanted to create a brand that’s core values were family, love, warmth and magic. We selected a soft playful logotype that represented these values and a logo that captured the essence of the brand.
Bosca is packaged in a small square box with a variety of three colours available. When you open the box you are instructed to either put on your augmented reality glasses or to connect your phone with the box.
For the launch campaign of our brand we are going to place giant Bosca boxes around the city, creating a buzz around the product. Passers will be invited to interact with the giant boxes through their phone. When they view the box through a phone screen it will come to life similar to the personalised Bosca boxes.
