TAPE-O-GRAPH
2016

The tape-o-graph is a media-archeological experiment, using a reel to reel tape deck player and a pencil as essential parts. While on the player, both decks are moving continuously as the music plays. Two arms attached to the reels, and joined in the middle are moved in ever-changing patterns of geometry, and drawing these patterns onto a piece of paper.

This drawing machine is putting emphasis on the physicality of analogue audio devices by producing patterns that act like seismographs of the movements of the reel.
Can a machine be an artist?
