VALTRA TRACTOR DESIGN CHALLENGE 2040
In the present day scenario , we are witnessing a lot of futuristic technologies. As the technology is on a roller coaster, predicting it for the year 2040 is pretty hard. The concept presented here will address an issue on scarcity of space. As the population growth is exponential the place to live and place to do farming will be difficult to find. The idea for the tractor came from making it to fit into different space constrains. More like a tractor which can vary its size. What if one single tractor is capable of meeting all the needs of all sort of farm lands.
To achieve this varying size of the tractor, first idea was to split the tractor into two different units. This collection of E-series is a completely versatile inter modal tractor. There are three different modes this tractor can be used as for light, medium and heavy duty purposes. The front unit will perform the light duties, and the rear unit will perform the medium duties. In order to make these two different units to work separately, high performance smart Hub-motors are used . And each unit is with two tandem wheels with the battery source arranged in the middle with a processing unit which pairs with the farmer to perform the duties. In the split mode these two units of E-series are self balancing. The docking port at the front and rear of each unit allows it to connect it to all the other machinery to perform the different purposes. There is manual mode where the farmer can stand behind each unit to ride along.
So one tractor is capable of doing multiple purposes at the same time. When it is a really heavy duty purposes, both the units will combine and become a single tractor with the help of a connecting unit which has additional energy source and a processing unit for the combined tractor.
The concept is made with a vision of 2040 and beyond hence it can be developed further by again by splitting the tractor into four different units. So it will be more like a tractor on a single wheel. With the help of advanced hub motors and highly efficient battery it will be possible in the future.
