Best First Aid for a Heart Attack
Heart Attack and other Cardiovascular diseases  are a major cause of death in Australia and other parts of the world, with almost 30% of all deaths in the past year claimed the lives of over 45,392 Australians that was one Australian every 27 minutes, actually they called this the silent killer because you will never know when it will attack, this disease can kill you in a matter of few minutes, so by knowing the proper first aid will might give you a 50/50 chance of surviving or even save lives of others. In fact since the discovery of CPR which was invented in 1960 countless lives were saved by this method.
The victims of this killer in Australia are mostly living on lower socioeconomic groups, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and those living in remote areas had the highest rate of death that caused by heart attack and other related heart diseases. While on USA there are about 715,000 Americans died of heart attack each year, we are very sure that if they know the proper implementation of CPR or what we called cardiopulmonary resuscitation hopefully many lives will be saved.
As found out the World Health Organization, every fifth victim of extreme situations are killed because of the fact that the next people do not have the first aid training, although all possibilities for that are or have it wrong.

So here are the basic first steps to be taken when responding to a heart attack victim
1.    Call 911 or your local emergency medical assistance number if the pain persists for more than 3 minutes. The ‘Average Ambulance Response Time Australia is approximately around 10-15 minutes or much more depending upon the distance from the near hospital or traffic jam. Now If you know how to apply first aid with an applied measured shock to a person’s heart using first aid or CPR, you can save It’s life within the first few minutes before the ambulance come, so from that point the victim will have a 70% - 80% chance of survival.
2.    Keep the person calm and still, then Put the person in a sitting postulation, with knees raised and back supported.
3.    Chew and swallow an aspirin (325 mg) slowly, unless you're allergic or otherwise prescribed by your doctor or take prescribed medicines if any.

4.    Loosen any tight clothing.
5.    Give CPR if the person is unconscious his breathing or pulse stops
CPR is the combination of both chest compressions, to support the heart, and artificial respiration, to support the lungs.
6.    Give artificial respiration if required Oxygen support or AED (Automated External Defibrillators).
7.    Take nitroglycerin: Upto three pills, one at a time every 5 minutes.
Importance of First Aid
1.    For every minute that a person is not breathing, the chance of survival decreases by 10%

2.    CPR doubles a person's chance of survival from sudden cardiac arrest.

3.    In an emergency the first 10 minutes are most important.
4.    In 4 minutes the victim starts to develop brain damage, so it’s really needed to take fast action at before getting to this stage.
5.    If CPR is started within 4 minutes of collapse and defibrillation provided within 10 minutes a person has a 40% chance of survival.

First Aid CPR Training Facts
•    Artificial resuscitation is useful: Exhaled air has 16% oxygen which can be absorbed by victim's lungs.
•    Defibrillation does not transfer any significant electrical current to a fetus, so it is safe to use on a pregnant woman.
•    Mobile phone or radio signals within 6 feet of an AED can disrupt analysis.
•    Administer emergency oxygen if an adult is breathing fewer than 12 breaths per minute.
•    Oxygen cylinders are labeled "U.S.P." which indicates the oxygen is to be used for medical purposes.
•    Agonal breathing is a gasping noise people make during cardiac arrest. It can be mistaken for breathing.
•    Pulse should be checked with fingers and not with thumb.
