I chose the word 'The rooster' from the poem Dawn by Hone Tuwhare. I hate birds. They scare me. I think this has started when I was 9 years old. The second day in Rotorua, my family went out to the lakefront where there are lots of black swans and seagulls. We went to feed the birds, out of date bread and I keep tricking them and making them angry about the bread. So the black swan bit my finger and I cried my eyes out that morning. The word 'The rooster' reminded me of that so I wanted to capture the same feeling of me getting a bite.
