21 Rules to Live by, and Die For

My Post-Graduation degree film at National Institute of Design. 2015.
21 Rules to Live by, and Die for, is an animated short film inspired by a satirical poem by Bengali author Late Sukumar Ray. It is a modern day adaptation which explores the logic behind the rules which are imposed on its citizens by the Government, and its implications, on the lifestyle of a nation. The film takes a lighter yet subtext driven approach, similar to Ray's sarcasm and presents the basic idea of the original story, incorporating a new narrative and other characters from his world of Nonsense literature. This piece of traditional 2D art in motion is an attempt to point out the obvious, raise a voice against blind faith, and question freedom through visuals and poetry.
