Leslie Rinchen-Wongmo is one of the few Westerners to have been trained in the traditional art of Tibetan applique:  "One of the only westerners trained in the rare Buddhist art of silk appliqué thangkas, she is passionate about the preservation and evolution of this cultural tradition. His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave his blessings to Leslie’s work and encouraged her to make images that speak to the spiritual aspirations of people across cultures and religions."

Her program, Threads of Awakening, seeks to pass on some of this knowledge through online workshops. Like any of the Tibetan arts, participants learn much more than moving thread through fabric.  In experiencing a connection with such an ancient art and tradition, one's self is also healed and made whole.
