"Traces of Holocaust in the Imaginarium of Polish Culture" ed. by Justyna Kowalska-Leder, Paweł Dobrosielski, Iwona Kurz and Małgorzata Szpakowska discusses various discursive traces, performative and visual, which they evoke, not always obviously, associations with the Holocaust. These signs manifest themselves in colloquial expressions, artistic and scientific in various media - in spoken, written, printed, photography, film, architecture or multigenre voices online. Fans of football as well as regulars of contemporary art exhibitions, lovers of anti-Semitic jokes and members of organizations fighting hate speech are reffering to them.

Authors of the volume propose interpretative following of the traces of the Holocaust imprinted in polish collective imaginarium. They reveal a map of issues, on which they include, among others: the issue of visibility of genocide, different ways of entanglement of Poles in the Holocaust, martyrdom, rivalry with its victims, proablem of "indifference" of witnesses and taking over property "Former Jewish". They also ask for representation of the Holocaust experience and indicate a number of dilemmas related to memory about it, such as the issue of the ethical dimension of the forms of commemoration or education and "pollution" of polish land by this historical event.

Status of Holocaust traces, among many other signs of the past, is unique in polish culture, just as a special as special was the annihilation of Jews which was conducted not only in the camps in occupied areas of Poland, but also on the streets, the squares, the cemeteries, the school buildings and hospitals, private homes, gates, forests and barns. Tracks referring to the Holocaust in polish culture have both conceptual and material character, by entering into the cityscape, towns and countryside.
