Bibimapp Logo Proposal

Criteria
To filter ideas I had in mind, I have these criteria of how I want to create the logo.
Logo marks
1. I want a logo with a lettermark (i.e., initial of the product/company).
2. The lettermark has something to do with location (e.g, location pin icon, GPS cursor, compass) or what the name was based on (i.e., beam).
3. If possible, I want to create a custom pictorial/symbol based on the lettermark in the above point. Needs to be simple so it’s easily animatible and not too subtle so it’s easily recognizable.
4. The entire logo will consist of at least a lettermark and/or a pictorial/symbol and a wordmark. They can be displayed separately or as one, depending on the media.
5. The lettermark/symbol can be displayed alongside a name or other text (i.e., like a share button).

Typography
1. Typography of the wordmark has to have similar identity (e.g., weight, features) with the logo mark.
2. Needs to be unique (i.e., not just a text with different font). It has to stand out if the wordmark were to be displayed independently.

Colors
1. The logo holds no more than two colors, not including the light and dark color (if any).
2. Obviously, the entire logo needs to look good on light or dark background.

LOGO #1
Directions
To further the criteria, for the first logo, these are the general ideas of how I want the logo to look like.

● For this one, I wanted to take a direction where customers would feel our product is a luxe (so they’d feel like they’re using a premium grade product).
● I wanted the typography following the lettermark is of all-cap serif type with similar weight as the lettermark, to follow the mood above.
● The primary color I had in mind has a black hue or dark grey, while the accent color (if any) has a yellow/orange hue.

Results
With the mood combined with the criteria above in mind, the results for this are as follows.

● A lettermark that’s made out of a single line and shaped the letter B in a semi-script style. The shape has a a little pointy part below it because it was inspired by the location pin icon, so it checks the criterion #2 in logo marks. This is obviously very subtle but the philosophy is still there. Not to mention the flexibility of the logo mark if we were to expand the product (i.e., not a location-based app).
● The font used for this is Minion Pro Regular. Now this obviously violates the criterion #2 for typography. This will most likely be adjusted if the logo ends up being used. For the licensing of this font can be seen here.
● The color I finally come up with is Anthracite Grey (#363E42) with no accent color. For the entire design, there would be a consistent accent color that would be used, if this logo ended up being chosen.

LOGO #2
Directions

● For the second one, I wanted a logo that feels user-friendly, or just fun. It will still be a letter B, but with this mood in mind, the shape will be more fluid than rigid, or just rather flexible in general.
● Following the logo mark, the typography would be of a rounded sans type.
● The color also needed to be soft. Not necessarily bright, but still carries the user-friendliness feeling.
Results

● Like the previous logo, the lettermark is also kind of created from a single line that shapes a letter B, and still has the pointy part at the bottom. The line is thicker in this one and suggests a stronger feeling towards the users.
● The font used for this is a subtly customized Bariol font. The licensing regarding this font can be seen here.
● The color I chose for this one is "Happy Acid" gradient color, which is #37ECBA to #72AFD3. The dark version of this logo also has a gradation from a really dark grey (#333) to black (#000) while the bright version is a gradient from white (#FFF) to a light grey (#CCC).

LOGO #3
Directions

● I wanted to try using a pictorial/symbol in this one, as opposed to the regular lettermarks like above, without disregarding that idea entirely. It might even be a combination of both. It shouldn't be too abstract as the users might end up not recognizing the meaning/idea behind it. I still wanted the entire thing to have a similar user-friendly feeling like #2.
● Like previously, I would want to use a rounded sans font type. Maybe with similar style of the pictorial/lettermark.
● I'd like to use basic color (e.g., red, green, blue) in this one, as it usually sticks more to the users.
Results

● Without taking the core idea off, the pictorial and lettermark in this one was created from the same element (as shown in the animation below), and could be used interchangeably and independently. Since they basically form a location pin, users would know exactly what the app does or what it is about at least. Or it if it's too obvious or even too generic, we can use the lettermark instead and show the pictorial in animations only.
● For the typography, the type in this one was handcrafted with simple and clean elements to match the logo mark exactly.
● Since there are mainly two elements in the logo mark, it's nice to also have two primary colors, one for each element. I had to pick between a blue-red and a red-green scheme. I decided to go with the red-green one because firstly, blue-red combo is too common and combine with the logo mark, users might mistaken it for other icons. Secondly red and green are naturally complementary so they just fit each other nicely.
