The original version from 1843 is from the danish Hans Christian Andersen, where the duck was, afterall, a swan. I never really liked this ending, you know? I don't think it's fair to compare animals from different species and label one of them "pretty" or "ugly". Also, I don't like this approach where you need to be pretty to have a happy ending. In this story, he is a duck from the beggining to the end, and he conquers everything with his effort, not with his looks. Almost a metaphor for the times of high school, where the cool kids would mock the weird ones, and years later the geeks would be the ones that would rule the world.

Ilustração para o livro: O Patinho feio.
A historia original (de 1843 ) é do Dinamarquês Hans Christian Andersen, nela, o tal do Pato era no fim um Cisne. Eu nunca achei essa moral final satisfatória. Se mostrar de outra espécie pra diferenciar dos outros como mais belo e melhor, pra recompensar o bullying que sofreu no passado. Nessa aqui é todo mundo pato, mesmo. O tal patinho no fim se destaca por pura excelência e esforço. Quase uma metáfora aos tempos de colégio, onde os descolados tiravam sarro da molecada mais "esquisita" no corredor. E hoje os "esquisitos" tão tudo ai, brilhando!!!
