In 2009, Aterlier Punkt's gallery founder and curator Melinda Pap invited various designers, architects and visual artists to collaborate in an experimental group show. The invited creators were asked to construct/create whatever struck their fancy using only materials Melinda Pap had on hand at Punkt, and all work had to be done on site as well during the span of two days. The materials available at Punkt were part left-overs from past art projects and exhibitions, part donations by local industrial workshops sharing the same building where Punkt was located. The initial purpose of Moving Around was to recycle as much left-over materials from past art-exhibits and projects into new art and design objects.
As one of the visual artists invited to participate in Punkt's Moving Around event, I chose to work with a pile of old music sheets as my starting point. This series of illustrations is what emerged. For some reason, the theme of occult knowledge was what working with these yellowed and brittle music sheets inspired in me.
