Drinking Fountain

Street Drinking Fountain

We are sharing our competition entry for outdoor drinking fountian in the Main Town in Gdansk. We are really proud that our entry won the competition and after few months of work was constructed.

In the 19th century, since the emergence of the water and sewerage network in Gdansk, the town has been enriched with public wells. Due to historical sources the appearance of St. John's Street  well is known. It was in the form of obelisk enriched with cornices, coffers and pilasters. Form of the proposed fountain derives directly from the original historic object, while opposing his former form with simpler, more modern, monolithic form and contemporary material.

The square base obelisk has water sources at three different heights. This allows the object to be used by both adults and children, the elderly or the disabled. In addition, there is a place to serve as a waterhole for dogs in the form of a bowl at the base of the fountain. The main material used is an architectural concrete.
