Math Mate
For my final project at SFSU, I made a workbook and kit for visual learners grades K-2 that will help them learn the basic fundamentals of mathematics. As a student that struggled her entire life with mathematics, but excelled in the arts, it was clear from a young age that the process of visual learning was the only way I would grasp the concepts of math.
The object of Math Mate is to aid in the teaching and understanding of math for students kindergarten through 2nd grade. With the help of the characters that I designed, students will begin to see math as something that can be fun and memorable, and not just known as abstract numbers.
The kit is constructed of high-density cardboard, Velcro closures, canvas wrap and a transparent window on top.
