L'ESPRIT DU PAIN
Commissioned illustrated and typographic murals, and wall menus for Eric Kayser Portugal, for the reopening of their fully renovated bakery at Amoreiras Plaza, in Lisbon.
Eric Kayser is a renowned chain of French bakeries, whose worldwide success is deeply rooted in their core philosophy and brand values, set upon the demand to create superior-quality bread. Bringing together innovation and tradition, Eric Kayser maintains a commitment to using a natural liquid leavening agent to produce their breads and pastries, thus guaranteeing a larger shelf-life, as well as healthier and more flavorful products.
The brief was to create an illustrated mural that would not only bring warmth and excitement to the cafeteria space, but also stay in line with the brand’s core values, fulfilling both decorative and narrative purposes. The concept for this project was based on the idea that time is important – time to let nature take its course, time to create good products, and time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
The composition is built around a large organic element, a fluid dynamic shape referencing Eric Kayser’s distinctive liquid leavening agent, that guides us through a small story – from cereal to flour, to bread production, to the warmth of being greeted with kindness and a smile in your favorite bakery, to the happiness of taking the time to relax while enjoying a delicious piece of bread.
