Susan 2.0, a large format 3D printer

Susan 2.0 is a large format, reprap 3D printer.  It was designed specifically to create extra large parts in any printing material, and is based on the popular i3 frame design.
Benchmarking
The original Prusa i3 Mk2 is an excellent 3D printer and widely regarded as one of the best printers in the consumer market.  The Gmax 1.5-XT is a plus size i3 style printer with a large build volume and great reviews, but a hefty price tag.  Susan 2.0 was designed to be as sturdy and capable as the Gmax, but cost no more then the Mk2 to build.
Design
As a reprap printer, Susan 2.0 was designed utilizing mostly existing hardware and custom 3D printed brackets/housings.  The frame is 3030 aluminum T-slot rail, which creates a sturdy platform and allows for modularity.  The motion system uses 10mm linear shafts and bearings to ensure smooth and accurate operation.
The bed assembly was designed in CAD, then CNC milled from 6061 aluminum.  This custom bed is 35 by 35cm and machined to be completely flat.
Electronics
3D printers require an array of specialized electronics working in tandem to produce good prints.  Susan 2.0 uses standard Nema 17 motors to drive each axis, two power supplies (one to power the main board, the other for the heated bed), an Ultimachine mini-rambo 1.3 main control board, and two LCD controllers to operate the machine remotely.
The extruder is a direct-drive system paired with an E3D V6 hotend, which allows for a wide range of material selection including nylon, polycarbonate and flexibles.  A proximity sensor is used to auto level the machine, making part bed adhesion more reliable.
