The Dark Side of the Munch #MunchContest

"Very hard to explain why you're mad, even if you're not mad."

Munch depicted a state that is both disturbing and detached from the reality around it.
The scream has no evident causes, so it seems the guy is screaming for an existential reason.

My version is meant to work in parallel with the 1893 original: what happens if we mute the scream and the sense of oppression? What is the focus then?
Below the 1893 original version (source wikipedia) and my version side by side
Process and Technical Aspects:

1. I made a copy to the 1893 version using the Filbert brush for most of the strokes,
the Ratty to dirty it up and give it some texture;

2. replaced some of the okras - that gave an unreal sense of stillness, death -
with a more natural palette

3. added some movement and three-dimensionality to make it a live scene again

4. using blenders I took away facial expression, turned the face by 45 degrees

5. tried a few poses first, but decided to not assign any additional meaning in the end,
I just made the figure still
