" I'm 60 years old and have been living here all my life,” says Fizuli Zeynalov, an inhabitant of Old City Baku, as he leans on the 100-year-old wooden door, a door that has undoubtedly played its role in a greater history of the 12th-Century Old City.

“I’m the third generation of our people living here. My mother was born here. My grandfather lived in this house as well and owned a hotel nearby. He had guests coming in and out from many cities of Azerbaijan. 

I have two sons, both well educated; they both have jobs. Good kids, they help me a lot.” They are 4th-generation inhabitants of this house, stepping through these same doors.

’’It still works,’’ pointing towards the wooden door, “we are still here.”
