Ode to George Platt-Lynes
On a photographers' lap
Fashion photographer George Platt Lynes (15 April 1907 – 6 December 1955) took portraits and nudes of famous writers, dancers and actors. As a tribute, I contacted several illustrators, writers, actors and a international dance company if they would like to pose for the camera.
What is the closest you can get to someone? Taking a seat on a photographers' lap is quite intimate.
In this art direction project, I had to find a photographer that works with old studiolamps and a technical camera. Making sure the position and lighting is as accurate as possible and the people fitting the profile.
From these photo's I've made a throne (front and back) and placed it in the public library, along with a small publication in Dutch, English, French and German.
