Babushka's Kitchen logo redesign

This project was the result of a re-branding assignment for my Corporate Identity class at the University of Akron. We were to select a local business and revise their logo. I chose a cozy little restaurant called Babushka's Kitchen, known for their excellent Polish food. Unfortunately, restaurants specializing in Eastern European cuisine oftentimes have very dated and unappealing visual identities. I wanted to attract a younger audience by designing something current and fresh -- but still keeping the traditional look of the Babushka so as not to alienate the faithful (and much older) Polish customers.
The old logotype vs. the new logotype.
The best part about designing a face for the logo was that I could have fun and change the expressions for different applications. For their business card, I made the babushka smiling and licking her lips on the back -- as if she just ate a pretty awesome pierogi.
