Last.fm App Redesign

Last.fm App Redesign

Disclaimer: I'm simply a long-time user of Last.fm and do not work for them. This whole project was based and built on my own research and experience.

Last.fm is a music website best-known for its scrobbling which tracks the music its users listen to and gives very accurate recommendations based on that. Through the years, what started as a personal song database turned music recommendation site turned mini social network, it has even spawned iOS and Android apps, been acquired by CBS and gone through other several changes which mostly are sadly met with negativity.

Based on personal experience and bias, I'm still not willing to give up Last.fm as it has remained the best place for me to discover music and I've even made a few friends with it so I decided to create a case study out of it whilst learning new things.

To summarize, the common complaints I noticed was the lack of features on the app, it could only show your scrobbles and the lack of social engagement with other people. I started with redesigning the information architecture on how the user would navigate through the app, created wireframes as to how each section's content is dictated through hierarchy and aligned the redesigned app with the Last.fm we know and love.
